RESEARCH

My research interests include the study of implementation processes and program evaluation of health services, especially for older adults.  I have expertise in applied behavior analysis, behavioral systems analysis, and applied gerontology.  I have conducted intervention and evaluation research in nursing homes and on issues related to quality of life for older adults. Currently, I am evaluating a police-based Crisis Intervention Team program that addresses the need to prevent arrests of non-violent individuals with mental illness and a Pre-booking Diversion program to divert non-violent individuals with mental illness to treatment by building a system that prevents incarceration and conviction, and links them with the treatment and support that they need in the community.

TEACHING

I have taught courses in single subject research design, research methods, Adult Development and Aging, and several courses and labs on behavior analysis. I have also conducted educational programs for professionals employing behavior analytic techniques, and a guest lecture for nurses on nonpharmacological interventions for people with dementia.

SERVICE

I am a member of the Gerontological Society of America and the American Evaluation Association.
