Professor Emeritus William T. Hall
Dr. William T. Hall was a professor of health services administration and the director of the Public Health Social Work Training Program at the Graduate School of Public Health. Hall received his graduate training at the University of Minnesota and joined the Pitt Graduate School of Public Health faculty in 1965. He was instrumental in obtaining for the department long-term federal funding for the training of social work professionals in maternal and child health. He was a nationally recognized leader in the public health social work field and authored numerous articles and monographs related to training and continuing education in this field. Both locally and nationally, he provided technical assistance and consultation to many community-based public health programs, and was an active consultant to the Maternal and Child Health Bureau in the U.S. Public Health Service. Hall served as a mentor for many Master of Public Health students as well as for doctoral students from the School of Social Work until his retirement in 1985.
